Teen girls find Emma Watson as role model

According to a latest survey, teenage girls would rather be Harry Potter’s ‘Hermione’ than Cheryl Cole or Katy Perry.

Nearly four in five voted the book and movie character played by 20 year old, Emma Watson as their top role model.

A huge 87 per cent of 18,000 youngsters aged 12 to 20 said they would rather be known for their brains than looks.

Asda, which ran the survey, said a "sensible" blazer similar to Hermione’s is "flying off the shelves".

A spokesman for the supermarket giant said, "Our customers love Hermione’s style. We have had to order in more blazers."

Anne Hathaway poses for cover shoot

Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal, who star in the upcoming comedy ‘Love & Other Drugs’, have posed for the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Happy and laughing, Jake has his arms wrapped around Anne for three different covers.

The couple opened up about the making of the film, and how they got over any initial awkwardness with the sex scenes.

Anne admitted she “totally fell apart” the first time she and Jake were expected to take their clothes off.

So to lighten the mood, director Edward Zwick took off his clothes as well and climbed into bed with both actors.

And both Jake and Anne soon found themselves becoming accustomed to the non-stop situation.

“As with all things in life, the second you stop making it about you and you make it about everyone else, it just got, dare I say, fun. There wasn’t anything to be nervous about. It was another scene,” Anne said.

“The lack of clothing meant that there wasn’t a lot of padding, so I was constantly bruised,” she added.

Natalie Portman sports a bikini first time

Hollywood beauty Natalie Portman had vowed never to strip for the cameras but she will be seen donning a bikini for the first time on screen in her upcoming film ‘Your Highness’.

The role comes hot on the heels of her graphic scenes with Mila Kunis in her new film ‘Black Swan’.

The 29-year-old peels down to a very tiny bikini in the comedy ‘Your Highness’, where she stars alongside James Franco and Zoey Deschanel.

In recently released stills, the Oscar nominated actress is seen stripping down into a very skimpy two-piece as she stands on some rocks next to a large pond surrounded by trees.

The green thong bikini leaves nothing to the imagination, emphasising every curve of her enviably toned body.

The ‘Star Wars’ actress has previously turned down roles, including ‘Lolita’, which she considered too explicit.

Being a single mum is hard: Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera has spoken out about being a single mum to son Max after split from husband Jordan Bratman last month. The singer said her priority was to keep her 20-month-old son Max happy.

“He’s just the happiest guy ever and I want to make sure he remains that way,” said Christina.

She herself was raised by a single mother following her parents’ divorce “and that turned out fantastic”, Aguilera said.

“It’s hard, definitely. It’s hard just even being a working mum and trying to balance and juggle everything on your plate,” she said.

“I like to be the first thing my son Max wakes up to in the morning and the last thing he goes to bed at night seeing, and singing him his lullabies before bed.

“It means the world to me to be able to do that,” she added.

The singer, who was married to Bratman for five years, confessed she would like Max’s childhood to be a little calmer than her own upbringing.

“I grew up in a very chaotic household when I was younger so I want to make sure to instil in him a lot of love,” she said.

Kelly Osbourne fears cancer diagnosis

Singer-turned-reality TV star Kelly Osbourne lives in constant fear that one day she will be diagnosed with cancer, just like her mother, and makes weekly visits to her doctor to get health shots to boost her immune system.

The 26-year-old daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne admitted her mother Sharon’s battle with colon cancer in 2002 has scared her for life and she insists on regular check-ups.

"I’m absolutely convinced I’m gonna get cancer. Once a week I go to the doctor. Every time I think I’ve got a lump somewhere, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I gotta go to the doctor.’ ”

Kelly also admitted that the cancer scare has taught her one important lesson in life - "It makes you realise that, at the end of the day, all you have is your family."

Sharon Osbourne successfully battled the disease and went on to form her own cancer charity.

Mariah Carey to design maternity wear

Pop singer Mariah Carey says her pregnancy has inspired her to create a range of maternity wear.

The singer, who recently announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon, revealed that her changing figure has inspired her to look into designing clothing for mothers-to-be.

"It makes me really want to design a maternity line," she said.

The 40-year-old star is in the process of establishing her own fashion line, with a lifestyle collection for cable channel Home Shopping Network that will include clothes and footwear.

Katrina Kaif drops her clothes

Farah said, “‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ was supposed to be a raunchy item Bhojpuri kind of song as Katrina’s a wannabe actress acting in sleazy films but the song shaped out to be classy and a mix between Chicago and Broadway. I have never seen Katrina looking both hot and sensuous at the same time. In her earlier films, she’s dressed mostly like a Barbie doll.”

When enquired whether Katrina had any reservations before giving her consent for the item song, a confident Farah said, “Katrina really trusted me and didn’t argue even once when I told her what she had to wear. She just told me that she needs to start working out and tone her body more. I never told Katrina to lose weight. We shot ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ in five days and every day we had a new set and new costumes. For the satin bed sheet, we had a 10 feet rotating bed with the men around her. She would shoot with us and then go and work out at 11.30 pm so that her abs would be toned. Her dedication is tremendous. She didn’t feel awkward with so many men around. The more they screamed and cheered for her, the more she got a high and her energy levels increased."

Pamela Anderson in Mumbai for Bigg Boss

Former ‘Baywatch’ star Pamela Anderson arrived in Mumbai late Monday amid media frenzy, resulting in a scuffle at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here.

The 43 year old, who has travelled all the way from Los Angeles to be a guest on Colors’ reality show "Bigg Boss 4", was dressed casually in a grey ganji top with a plunging neckline, and a pair of jeans.

She even sported aviators and left her trademark blonde hair open, as she came out of the airport at 10.50 p.m. - more than two hours later than the scheduled time of her arrival.

Even though it was raining, several media persons waited with their still and video cameras to catch a glimpse of Pamela.

As soon as she moved out of the airport, all hell broke loose as media persons surrounded her, blocking every way to her car.

Despite the heavy security and five brawny bouncers, Pamela was pushed back to a glass wall of the airport.

The scenario became so out of control that she had to turn back inside and move out from a different exit.

In the meantime, a scuffle also broke out between a photographer and a policeman, following which, a few other media persons retaliated as well.

Other travellers ended up facing the brunt of the frenzy as they weren’t able to leave the airport unless the actress did.

Pamela is scheduled to enter the "Bigg Boss 4" house today.

She will stay with other housemates for three days, and is expected to boost the oomph factor on the show by leaps and bounds.

She has been reportedly paid Rs 2.5 crore for her stint on the show, and she is very "excited".

Jessica Alba confused on 'why men find her sexy'

Hollywood beauty Jessica Alba is a bit confused as to what being sexy means and is not comfortable with her sex symbol tag.

The ‘Sin City’ star who has previously been voted the sexiest woman in the world does not like being singled out for her looks and prefers to be praised for her acting skills.

"This whole sex goddess thing? Half the time I don’t even know what that means. It sounds beyond me. Way beyond me. I don’t put myself out there to get that kind of attention. When I do, it’s flattering, but it’s not what I set out to do. I just want to be in movies and I really don’t see myself like this.

"I don’t specially celebrate it but I’m grateful about it. And when I go home I wash it all away. I need to find time to be myself and not to be only a personality part of the business," said the 29 year old actress.

Moreover, Alba regards herself as just a "simple" woman from the suburbs.

"I’m really just a simple girl from the suburbs. But, a lot of the time, the magazines don’t show that side of me. I’m proud of my heritage," she added.

Heidi Montag to get married again

Reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are planning to renew their wedding vows after a staged split earlier this year.

After their split, Heidi had filed for legal separation in July. However, the couple patched up in no time. Spencer later admitted the divorce proceedings were staged in a bid to land them a new TV deal.

Moreover, their initial nuptial in 2009 was also filmed for television series ‘The Hills’.

"It was a movie, it was a script and it didn’t feel right. No one in that building wanted us to get married. It was a nightmare," Spencer said.

Both now want to renew their vows so they can enjoy the ceremony in private.

"We had just gone through so much crazy stuff personally and through our jobs and everything, so for me this feels like our first real marriage. Like our first restart," Heidi said.

The 22 year old showed off her more voluptuous appearance as she filmed scenes for a new film, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, on the beach in Hawaii.

The actress has clearly undergone a figure transformation for the film - probably with the help of a heavily padded bra.

Hudgens is filming the movie alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kristin Davis and Josh Hutcherson on the tropical island before heading to New York and then Wilmington in North Carolina to finish up.

The movie follows Sean Anderson, played by Josh Hutcherson, who partners up with his mother’s boyfriend (The Rock), to find his grandmother who has gone missing on a mythical island.

The movie is due out in September next year.

Rachel Bilson dating Hayden Christensen

American actress Rachel Bilson has reunited with her ex-fiance Hayden Christensen.

Christensen, 29, and Bilson, 29 met on the sets of film ‘Jumper’ in 2007, and got engaged in December 2008, but called it off in August this year.

"They’re dating again," said a friend.

Christensen was seen leaving the former ‘O.C.’ star’s house in Los Feliz, California last week.

Tyra Banks to auction dress for charity

Talk show host Tyra Banks and a number of top models will be donating their dresses to charity in order to raise money for electricity in Rwanda and Haiti.

"We have asked about 30 top models, including Tyra Banks, Eva Herzigova, Brooke Shields, Elle Macpherson and Christy Turlington to donate ‘one frickin dress’ they have worn on the red carpet," said top fashion model Elletra Wiedemann, who is organising the collaboration between her OneFrickinDay charity and online auction site Charitybuzz for the new Model Behaviour initiative.

Wiedemann hopes the auction will help with the attempt to raise at least USD 100,000 to provide solar panels for clinics in Rwanda and Haiti.

She said: "These gorgeous dresses will be auctioned off on Charitybuzz and the money will go towards buying solar panels for clinics that currently have zero access or very limited access to electricity in Rwanda and Haiti."

Reese Witherspoon kisses Tom Hardy

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, who is dating talent agent Jim Toth, shared some romantic kisses with co-star Tom Hardy on the sets of their new film in Vancouver, Cananda.

The two filmed their second passionate scene for the upcoming romantic comedy "This Means War".

"Jim knows Reese is the one for him. It’s what he’s been waiting for," said a source.

"Getting engaged is a natural step for them but they’re not in a rush, there’s no deadline, no timetable. But it’s something in the future," said the source.

The film follows two lifelong best friends, played by Hardy and Chris Pine, who pit themselves against each other after they both fall in love with the same woman, played by Witherspoon.

The 34 year old actress, who has two children from her former marriage to Ryan Phillippe, is splitting her time between Vancouver and her home in Los Angeles.

The British model and actress , Kelly Brook gives out her number to every man who asks for it. She says that she is very approachable and cannot turn anybody down.

As a result the 30 year old has to change her mobile phone number regularly in a bid to avoid being bombarded with calls.

"Men ask so I give it out. I’m quite approachable. I have to change my number every couple of months because I give it to anybody who asks for it," she said.

"Does that make me easy? Then they all keep calling me and I change it," added Brook.

She celebrated August as her "nude month", stripping off for the front cover of Love magazine. The shoot for the magazine followed her nude pictures for Playboy magazine, shedding clothes in her new film "Piranha 3D" and baring all for a billboard advert for Reebok trainers.

Jennifer Aniston believes that love is the greatest challenge and still gets nervous when it comes to falling in love.

The former ‘Friends’ star, who has in recent years had a string of unsuccessful relationships with several famous men, admits the initial feeling of falling for someone is still her favourite thing, and she hasn’t given up on finding the right man.

“I love the feeling of having butterflies in my stomach. Love is the greatest challenge for all of us. You can’t control love, you don’t even choose it. On the contrary, I think love chooses you, you need to be open to love. I am, I think it should be spontaneous,” said Aniston.

The 41-year-old actress also stated that she isn’t affected by media speculation about her love life, and rather enjoys reading rumours about herself.

Taylor Swift to launch her perfume line

Country music star Taylor Swift has teamed up with Elizabeth Arden to create her own line of perfume and fragrance products.

Elizabeth Arden, makers of designer perfumes for fashion line Juicy Couture and celebrities such as Britney Spears and Elizabeth Taylor, said the first fragrance will be launched in late 2011.

The 20 year old, Swift will be personally involved in all aspects of product development, packaging and advertising. There is no name as yet for the new line.

The announcement comes a week after the Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Swift released her third album "Speak Now" to good reviews. Her previous album "Fearless" propelled a 10-month tour and was the biggest selling album of 2009.

"I have always loved how fragrance can shape a memory, the way certain scents remind you of events and people that are imprinted in your thoughts," Swift said in a statement.

Elizabeth Arden executive vice president Ronald Rolleston called Swift a "role model who inspires her fan base every day."

Bipasha bags her first Hollywood project

After sizzling on Bollywood screen for almost a decade, dusky beauty Bipasha Basu has signed her first international project - English-French director Roland Joffe’s ‘Singularity’.

The 31 year old is extremely excited and admits she does have butterflies in her stomach.

"I am very excited but have to admit that I am also a little nervous. Everything happened really fast," said Bipasha.

Bipasha met Joffe in a chance encounter at the Taj Land’s End Hotel in Mumbai in September.

The $33 million movie, written by Ajey Jhankar, is a riveting tale of an impossible love set across two time periods and continents.

It is set in the backdrop of the First Anglo-Maratha War of the 18th century and revolves around four characters - a British officer in colonial India and the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his researcher lover - who gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.

The film will be shot in Australia and India.

Bipasha, who will be missing Diwali for the initial rehearsals for the film, says she would have loved to get some more time to prepare for her role.

"I am not getting much of preparation time right now. I have been given just eight days to prepare for underwater scenes and horse riding. I wish I had at least a month’s time for preparation," she said.

As much as she would have liked to, Bipasha is also not getting much time to brush up on her history.

"There is just no time before I fly out! I have finished all my pending endorsement assignments and now I will try and grasp whatever I can there itself," she said.

Nevertheless, she is looking forward to working with Hollywood actors.

"The script is fantastic. They have a lot of expertise in their field. It’s going to be a whole lot of hard work, and it’s going to be great fun to adapt to their system of working," she said.

"Singularity" also stars Bollywood actor Abhay Deol besides Hollywood stars Chris Pine, Josh Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Egan and Shane Briant, among others.

Bipasha will shoot from the third week of November till the last week of December in Brisbane.

Her upcoming Indian projects include "Dum Maaro Dum" and Abbas-Mustan’s "Players".

Bipasha is glad that Abbas-Mustan, who gave her a launchpad with 2001 film "Ajnabee", were accommodating enough to adjust their dates so that she could give her nod to "Singularity".

The film is tentatively slated for a 2011 release.
